5 Easy Tips to Keep Your Floors Looking Clean

When it comes to tidying up our floors, it can often be the last chore we want to do! We find ourselves stroking resentment anytime we have to physically move those heavy furniture items, in order to reach those stubborn areas.

To every multi-tasking adult, I think we can agree that we are all seeking ways to improve our daily productivity, especially when it comes to those long, ongoing chore lists. As our busy schedules become more and more demanding, it constantly feels like there are not enough hours in a single day. We hope these simple hacks will help you cut down on the time spent having to complete some of those tasks we all dread, such as vacuuming and moping your floors!

PRO TIP: All it takes is a little extra T-L-C (Tender Loving Care) to start seeing, and feeling, the difference in the time spent on keeping your floors clean.

1. Spot-Treat Daily: Pick up after yourself and be quick to clean up any spills, so you can prevent stains from appearing.

2. Commit to a Clean Sweep Routine:
We recommend sweeping hard surfaces at least once a week, and vacuuming areas with carpet twice per week.

For hard surfaces, invest in a good dust mop such as the O-Cedar Dual-Action Microfiber Sweeper

For carpeted areas, make it easy on yourself by investing in a vacuum that’s cordless, has an adjustable wand length and different roller heights, such as this LG Stick Vacuum -or something similar- such as this iRobot Roomba which automatically adapts it height to effectively clean carpets and hard floors.

    3. Pay Attention to High-Traffic Areas: Keep doormats at each busy entrance and practice taking your shoes before coming into the house to avoid messy shoe prints. Need we say more?

      4. Invest in an Air Purifier:
To help keep dust, allergens and other airborne particles off the ground consider buying the Blue Pure 211+ by Blueair, designed to cover the size of a family room, master bedroom or large office.

      5. Keep Your Pets Clean: Wipe down their paws to prevent them from tracking in dirt and bathe them routinely. Also, for long-haired animals, brush them regularly to help reduce shedding.
